Job opportunities
Subcontract painter, self-employed.
- Greater Belfast · County Antrim · South Down
- Self-employed / CIS
- Fixed-price job packages
MCN Painting Contracts is taking on self-employed subcontract painters across Northern Ireland. The work splits three ways: high-volume void properties for social housing, Education Authority maintenance contracts, and high-end domestic.
Social housing work runs across Greater Belfast, with occasional travel further afield. Education Authority contracts run throughout South Down. High-end domestic work covers Greater Belfast and County Antrim.
We work on fixed-price job packages rather than day rates. You are quoted a fee for the job, and how long you take is up to you.

What we provide
- Steady continuous volume — void properties, Education Authority works and Gold Tier domestic
- All paint, site protection and specialist materials delivered to site
- Guaranteed bi-weekly Friday payouts direct to account
- Clear 'No-Call' job sheets with exact site specs, access and target timeframes
What we require
- Valid Public Liability Insurance (£1m or more)
- CIS registered with a UTR
- Valid CSR card — required for Education Authority and Social Housing sites
- Own commercial van, ladders and full professional trade kit
- Strict site compliance — dust sheets, poly sheeting, floor protection, masking tape
- Daily WhatsApp photo-log compliance — no photo log means payout on hold
- 24-hour dispatch acceptance window
How the money works.
Fixed-price job packages, not day rates. You’re quoted a fee for the job before you start, and how long you take is up to you.
£595.00
2-bed void flat refresh — fixed labour package, benchmarked at 2.5–3.0 days.
At that benchmark the package works out at roughly £200–£297 a day, depending on how quickly you complete it. That is an example and an indication, not guaranteed earnings — the fee is fixed, the daily figure is not.

Questions.
Is this employed or self-employed work?
Self-employed. You need to be CIS registered with a UTR, and to hold your own Public Liability Insurance of £1m or more.
How does payment work?
Fixed-price job packages rather than day rates — a set fee for the job, agreed before you start. Payouts run bi-weekly, direct to your account, on a Friday. Payment is conditional on the photo log being complete.
Do I need a CSR card?
For Education Authority and Social Housing sites, yes — those sites require it and we cannot put you on them without one. Tell us on the form if yours has expired.
What materials do I need to supply?
None of the consumables. All paint, site protection and specialist materials are delivered to site. You bring your own commercial van, ladders and full professional trade kit.
Which areas would I be working in?
Social housing across Greater Belfast, with occasional travel further afield. Education Authority contracts throughout South Down. High-end domestic across Greater Belfast and County Antrim.
What is the photo log?
Clear before, daily progress and final completion photos, uploaded to the project WhatsApp group for every job. It is how work is verified for payment, so a missing log puts the payout on hold.
